A NOTE FROM THE CHAIR

“A little help can open
someone’s next chapter.”

Chair, Korea Association of AI ArtistsKim Ye Eun

Hello, I’m Kim Ye Eun, chair of the Korea Association of AI Artists.

I have often felt that a little help could let me grow further. That feeling is why I want to become someone who offers that help to others.

I believe varied experiences deepen our values. Working across art, education, community participation and public settings has helped me listen to different lives and reconsider what I took for granted.

I remind myself to turn adversity into experience. I want the difficulties I have faced to help me understand another person’s uncertainty and support their next attempt.

For good intentions to become useful support, we also need knowledge and practical skills to share. That is why I teach the AI practices and ways of thinking I have learned in the field. I hope you will use them in your own work and creative practice, and pass something useful on to someone who needs it.

A clear instruction sheet, a piece of content for a neighbourhood shop or a small practice session with a neighbour can be a beginning. I want KAAA to be a place where we learn, create and help one another take the next step.

LEARN · CREATE · SHARE

Let what you learn
help someone move forward.

From improving your own work to supporting a neighbour or community: make AI-assisted content that helps people understand and take a practical step.

ESG · SDGs · FLML

Preparing ESG and SDG learning with FLML

Building on the agreed direction for collaboration with FLML, we are developing AI creation and field projects around the environment, tourism and local businesses. Initial demonstrations and small-group learning are being designed for Kim Ye Eun to plan, facilitate and review.

01 · Learning to share

ESG in everyday language

Turn complex concepts into clear information cards and small-action checklists.

SDG 4 · Quality education / 10 · Reduced inequalities
02 · Creation for a place

Coasts, journeys and local shops

Use observation and interviews to create coastal guidance, visitor information and local-shop content.

SDG 11 · Sustainable communities / 12 · Responsible consumption / 13 · Climate action
03 · Help the next person

Use, review and improve

Keep sources, user feedback and revision reasons alongside each output so others can reuse it.

SDG 17 · Partnerships for the goals

The collaboration direction is supplied by the chair. Programme dates, field partners and budgets remain under discussion. These are learning and project designs; the SDGs indicate thematic links.

Connecting AI with a lost-score restoration project

Kim led the AI application strategy for a project restoring a lost score by composer Chae Dong-seon, featured in a documentary marking the 80th anniversary of Korean liberation. The project involved classical music, Korean traditional music and composition specialists.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

People set the direction.
We build with AI.

“Conduct the future with a 12% baton.”

Understand the essential principles, then guide AI and specialist collaborators. Practise defining the task, choosing tools, judging the output and revising it for real use.

“12%” is a teaching metaphor for the importance of core principles and human judgement.
  1. 01

    Define the purpose

State whose problem you are solving and the result you want.

  2. 02

    Explore possibilities

Change perspectives and compare several ideas.

  3. 03

    Create with AI

Provide context and criteria, then develop a draft.

  4. 04

    Make it your own

Review evidence, expression and usability before applying it.

Connect different experiences.
Reconsider familiar ideas.

I believe diverse experiences deepen our values. In class, this becomes four practices for widening our thinking, understanding people and testing a small output with AI.

The Medici Effect

Connect different experiences

Find shared problems and new combinations across art, education, tourism and community work.

Experience map · idea combinations
Design thinking

Start with people’s needs

Listen, define the problem, make a small prototype and review people’s responses.

Interview questions · problem statement · prototype
Rethinking

Question familiar assumptions

Separate facts from assumptions, consider other viewpoints and revise an early idea when needed.

Evidence table · alternatives · revision reasons
Visual thinking

Make thinking visible

Use drawings, diagrams and storyboards to help people understand an idea and act together.
